Welcome to my cyber garret!
I’m a writer turned editor who has once again picked up my quill. But this time, I’m following my heart and writing fiction—especially mysteries. Even my fantasies always seem to end up with a dead body under the cauldron and a Sig Sauer stuffed among the sage and peppermint in the neighbor’s herb garden. What can I say? I was weaned on Nancy Drew, Perry Mason, and Sherlock Holmes.
My first go-round as a writer, I specialized in nonfiction. I did well. In fiction, however, I’m just starting to see my words in print. I’m only at the beginning of this particular journey.
I invite you to tag along. I’ll share what I learn along the way, plus what I’ve picked up working as an editor for more than 20 years. And if you have a question whose answer you can’t find, give me a shout. Perhaps I can help. After all, that’s what writers and editors do—help one another.

“Imagination is the one weapon in the war against reality.“
—Jules de Gaultier
“But words are things, and a small drop of ink,
Falling, like dew, upon a thought, produces
That which makes thousands, perhaps millions, think.“
“Writing is the only thing that, when I do it, I don’t feel I should be doing something else.“
